Beware of fraudulent e-mail

Help Online is warning all online service users of fraudulent e-mails by alerting clients of the following deceitful methods and techniques used for identity theft.
“Phishing”
Is the act of sending a non solicited e-mail to users falsely claiming of being an established company, in the attempt to scam users into providing private and personal information which will eventually lead to identity theft. This e-mail normally directs users to visit a Web site asking them to update their personal information, i.e.: personal identification number, passwords, credit card numbers and date of birth. This e-mail contains a clickable link which appears to be taking you to the company’s Web site when in fact; it takes you to a spoof page of Help Online.
“Vishing”
Is another falsely claiming act, used to scam clients in order to obtain their personal and private information once again leading to identity theft. Normally users will receive a non solicited e-mail this time without a hyperlink but a telephone number. This number is presented as a number belonging to the privacy and security department or the customer service department of the company you are associated to, in this case Help Online; once the call is placed, whether you are speaking to someone live or through the use of voice mail with the help of Voice over IP technology scammers are able to gain access to your private information such as, personal identification number, passwords, credit card numbers and date of birth in order to identify you.
Users who receive such messages should not respond.
We encourage all our users to send us information about e-mails you receive and believe to be fraudulent, please forward e-mails to: info@help-online.ca
